[이솝우화] 개미 🐜 THE ANT 🐜アリ

옛날에 개미들은 본래 사람으로, 농사를 지으며 살아갔습니다. 
하지만 자기 손으로 얻은 결과에 만족하지 못하고, 늘 이웃의 곡식과 열매를 탐냈습니다. 
기회가 생기면 그것들을 훔쳐 자기 창고에 쌓아 두곤 했습니다. 
마침내 그 탐욕스러운 모습에 크게 화가 난 주피터는 그들을 개미로 바꾸어 버렸습니다. 
그러나 모습은 달라졌어도 본성은 변하지 않았습니다. 
그래서 지금도 개미들은 곡식밭을 돌아다니며 남이 수고해 얻은 곡식을 모아 제 창고에 쌓아 두는 것입니다.

🪶 교훈:
도둑을 벌할 수는 있어도, 본성은 쉽게 고쳐지지 않는다.

THE ANT

Ants were once men and made their living by tilling the soil. But, not content with the results of their own work, they were always casting longing eyes upon the crops and fruits of their neighbours, which they stole, whenever they got the chance, and added to their own store. 

At last their covetousness made Jupiter so angry that he changed them into Ants. 

But, though their forms were changed, their nature remained the same: and so, to this day, they go about among the cornfields and gather the fruits of others' labour, and store them up for their own use.

    You may punish a thief, but his bent remains.

🐜アリ

昔、アリは本来人間であり、畑を耕して生活していました。
ところが自分の労働の成果に満足せず、いつも隣人の作物や果実を羨ましく思い、隙があればそれらを盗んで自分の倉に蓄えました。
その貪欲さに怒ったユピテルは、彼らをアリの姿に変えてしまいました。
しかし姿が変わっても性質は変わらず、今日に至るまでアリは畑を歩き回り、他人の労苦の実りを集めて自分のために蓄えているのです。

盗人を罰することはできても、その性分は容易に変わらない。
