[이솝우화] 사자와 황소 🦁 THE LION AND THE BULL 🦁 ライオンと雄牛

 

사자가 살찐 황소가 소떼 사이에서 풀을 뜯는 것을 보고 잡아먹을 꾀를 생각했다. 
그래서 양을 제물로 바치고 있으니 저녁 식사에 와 달라고 전했다. 
황소는 초대에 응했지만, 사자의 굴에 도착하자 냄비와 꼬챙이가 가득했으나 양은 보이지 않았다. 
황소는 발길을 돌려 조용히 떠났다.
 사자가 이유를 묻자, 황소가 대답했다.
“이유는 충분하지. 
저 준비를 보니, 희생될 것은 양이 아니라 황소라는 생각이 들었거든.”

📖 교훈: 
함정은 눈치 빠른 자에게는 통하지 않는다.

THE LION AND THE BULL


A Lion saw a fine fat Bull pasturing among a herd of cattle and cast about for some means of getting him into his clutches; so he sent him word that he was sacrificing a sheep, and asked if he would do him the honour of dining with him. 

The Bull accepted the invitation, but, on arriving at the Lion's den, he saw a great array of saucepans and spits, but no sign of a sheep; so he turned on his heel and walked quietly away. 

The Lion called after him in an injured tone to ask the reason, and the Bull turned round and said,

"I have reason enough.
When I saw all your preparations it struck me at once that the victim was to be a Bull and not a sheep."

    The net is spread in vain in sight of the bird.

🦁 ライオンと雄牛

ライオンは、肥え太った雄牛が群れの中で草を食べているのを見て、どうやって捕まえるかを考えた。
そこで彼は雄牛に「羊をいけにえにしているから、ぜひ夕食に来てほしい」と伝えた。
雄牛は招待を受けたが、ライオンの巣穴に着くと、鍋や串ばかりが並び、羊の姿はなかった。
雄牛は踵を返して静かに立ち去った。ライオンが理由を尋ねると、雄牛はこう言った。
「理由は十分だ。
あの準備を見たとき、犠牲になるのは羊ではなく雄牛だとすぐに思ったのさ。」

📖 教訓: 
罠は気づく者には通じない。
