목마른 까마귀 한 마리가 물이 조금 들어 있는 물병을 찾았어요.
그런데 거기에 있는 물이 너무 적었어요.
아무리 애를 써도 까마귀의 부리로는 물에 닿지 않았어요.
그리고 까마귀는 목이 말라서 죽을 것 같았어요.
눈 앞에 물을 두고 말이죠.
마침내 까마귀는 영리한 방법을 생각해냈어요
까마귀는 물병에 조약돌을 떨어뜨리기 시작했어요
그리고 조약돌을 넣을 때 마다 물이 조금씩 올라왔답니다
마침내 물이 물병 끝 부분에 이를 때까지
그리고 영리한 까마귀는 갈증을 풀 수 있었답니다.
A thirsty Crow found a Pitcher with some water in it,
but so little was there that,
try as she might,
she could not reach it with her beak,
and it seemed as though she would die of thirst
within sight of the remedy.
At last she hit upon a clever plan.
She began dropping pebbles into the Pitcher,
and with each pebble the water rose a little higher
until at last it reached the brim,
and the knowing bird was enabled to quench her thirst.
